WIBL ‘07

It’s almost time for the Winter Indoor Brighton League (aka WIBL, aaka wibble) to kick off, so here are the 10 teams (that’s 2 more teams than last year):

Big Yellow Hat - Nick(c), Evil, Jason, Felix
James’ Freshers - Jimbo(c) + Mohawk freshers
Eunuch’s Freshers - Eunuch(c) + Mohawk freshers
Basic Schooling - Spike(c), Ray, Mental + Brighton players
Strangers With Candy - Ryan(c) + Brighton Juniors
Gash’s Team - Gash(c), Sammer, Pinky, Kalim + Mohawks
Fiddlewinx - Waggle(c), Tom, Ala, Pirate, Rolls
Squaws - Megan(c), Chrissy, Bob + Sussex Uni women
Panthers - Pete(c) + Panthers (Brighton uni players)
Roach’s Lasses - Lucy(c), Vicky, Becca, Roach, Cat, Mel

If you missed it last year, WIBL is a round-robin style 4-a-side indoor ultimate tournament held in Moulescomb leisure centre on weekday evenings. The pitches are smaller than usual, which makes for fast and furious games. For the results from last year’s league, check out the WIBL category of BU site.

Last year, Big Yellow Hat were victorious over Tom’s Team (now known as Fiddlewinx) in the final, but Tom’s Team claimed Spirit, with Big Yellow Hat the runner up (there were other teams competing, honest). Basic Schooling were also a force to be reckoned with last year, and this year we have the interesting mix of short women and super-tall Roach in Roach’s Lasses, plus Student Women Outdoor National Champions the Squaws, not to mention a team headed by GB Mixed & Clapham player Gash. On top of that we have the recently formed Brighton junior team Strangers With Candy, and the unknown quantities of the Sussex Uni fresher teams and the Panthers from Brighton Uni. It’s going to be an exciting league…
